President (retired) U Thein Sein met with the Chinese Foreign Minister during his trip to attend the 70th anniversary ceremony of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence held in China.
China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that his friend was an old friend of the Chinese people. The Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence proposed by the leader of China 70 years ago first received the support of Myanmar. After that, it was introduced in Asia, and the development of relations between Asian countries was strongly promoted. Through this, it has developed into a basic standard of international relations and a basic principle of international law, and has been able to provide important public goods by providing important services for the construction of the post-World War II international program. After 70 years, the 5 Principles of Peaceful Coexistence are not outdated, and they are evident by the energetic movement. Yesterday evening, President Xi Jinping, while attending the commemoration ceremony, explained in depth the spiritual essence of the five principles of peaceful coexistence and the value for all ages. Community building is the best extension and upgrade of the 5 Principles because it has added new essences of the times to the 5 Principles and provided important public goods to solve the various challenges the world is currently facing. China will work with Myanmar to implement the five principles of peaceful coexistence and make new efforts to promote China-Myanmar community building, the Chinese embassy said in a statement.
Ten years ago, as the president, he attended the 60th anniversary ceremony of establishing five (5) principles of peaceful coexistence. As an old friend of China, this is the second time to attend, and I am very happy and proud. The two countries, China and Myanmar, are friendly neighbors who have lived together peacefully for a long time. During President Xi Jinping’s visit to Myanmar in 2020, the two countries reached important agreements to build a Myanmar-China community of mutual benefit. Myanmar attaches great importance to the development of relations with China, and highly praises and supports the idea of building a community of peace and prosperity proposed by President Xi Jinping. President (retd) U Thein Sein said that he wants to continue to spread the five (5) principles of peaceful coexistence with China, deepen multi-sectoral cooperation, and build a good Myanmar-China community together.
The late President U Thein Sein attended the 70th anniversary ceremony of the five principles of peaceful coexistence held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China on June 28.
